Which programs do you use to manage references? Which features are important to you, and what support would you find useful?
The TUHH University Library and the Computing Centre are conducting a survey on reference management. We would like to find out how reference management software is currently used at TUHH, what users need and how we can further develop our services to better meet these needs.
In 2021/22, we already surveyed TUHH members about their experiences and needs. The results of that survey provided valuable insights into the use of reference management software and the support users require.
Why Are We Conducting Another Survey?
Since the previous survey, the reference management software market has undergone a number of changes, including developments among software providers. At the same time, TUHH will need to make decisions in the coming years about the continued provision and funding of reference management tools and services.
TUHH currently provides a Citavi campus license valid until March 2028. Whether it will be renewed has not yet been decided. TUHH also funds unlimited Zotero file storage for its members. Funding for this service is currently secured until May 2027.
Through this survey, we aim to establish a sound evidence base to identify the need for reference management tools and services and support future decisions about the allocation of financial resources. We also want to further develop our information, consultation and support services to better meet users’ needs.

Participation is voluntary and takes approximately 5 to 8 minutes. The survey is intended for all TUHH members and is open until 20 November 2026 (inclusive).
