Intellectual Property Rights

The use of (digital) information sources like standards and journals is subject to limits of licenses with costs and of intellectual property rights (copyright) respectively. Issues of copyright are also related to interlibrary loan, to the use of copyrighted material in learning management systems like Stud.IP as well as to the publication of research results in journals and books.

There exists initiatives of scholars which try for a fair balance between interests of economy and scholarship (research and teaching). The German Hochschulrektorenkonferenz as well as the German Wissenschaftsrat support the Göttingen Declaration of the Coalition for Action “Copyright for Education and Research”.
