A valid library card is required to borrow media.
Almost all media can be borrowed at our self-checkout desks even outside service hours. The loan period is usually 4 weeks.
The following items cannot be borrowed
- Reference copies (marked with a red sticker),
- Standards and
- loose-leaf collections.
The loan period can be extended up to 8 times if the item is not reserved or the loan period has not yet been expired. You can extend the loan period via your library account.
Alternatively, you can write to us, indicating your library card number and the media you wish to renew:
- Email to firstname.lastname@example.org or
- by post: Universitätsbibliothek der TUHH, Ausleihe, Denickestr. 22, 21073 Hamburg
If a book is borrowed, you can reserve it free of charge via the library catalogue. As soon as the book is returned you will get an email.
The book will then be available for you for seven days on the pick-up shelf (next to the service desks).
Books can be returned at our self-checkout desks. Afterwards, the books can be placed on the shelfs beside the self-checkout desk.
Return by post is possible. In this case, you bear the risk of liability if the book is lost.
Books from the TUHH University Library can be returned to the Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg.
Books from Stabi can be returned to our ServicPoint or in the white return box (outside service hours).
Closed stacks order
Books from the closed stacks can also be borrowed. They must be ordered in advance via the library catalogue.
As soon as the item is available for you on the pick-up shelf, you will be notified by email.
