We reported on the last major version change to Zotero 5 in July 2017. One of the biggest innovations in the current version is the integrated PDF reader. This can now be used to read and annotate documents directly in Zotero. The notes editor has also been revised. Notes can be supplemented with citations or images and integrated directly into common writing environments such as Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs via the „Add note“ option. Exporting notes to Markdown is also possible.

Zotero Connector and iOS App

There is also news for the Zotero Connector. In addition to versions for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, a variant for the Safari browser is now available. The plugin enables the storage of bibliographic information from accessed web pages in local Zotero databases via mouse click.

Along with Zotero 6, an iOS app was also released. Zotero for iOS enables mobile work with Zotero data on suitable smartphones as well as tablets. Synchronization with the desktop application is also supported.
