as you may have already noticed, the four new single workstation niches have arrived and have been set up in reading room 2.
Two are located in the southeast corner and two behind the elevator on the west side of the reading room.
It is the niches for which you voted by a majority in our survey last autumn. Thank you again for your participation!
The favourite chair has seat cushions and armrests! Many thanks to all of you who took part in the test sitting and survey in the library foyer!
Your wishes have of course been taken into account: from now on you can use the new furniture in the group rooms 1.006 and 1.009 on the upper floor.
Room 0004 on the ground floor also has colourful chairs with flexible backrests.

Your feedback has made it possible to identify clear trends – the favourite chair of most participants has upholstered seats and armrests. In your free text answers we learned that you like to change the sitting position at work and don’t like stiff or fixed backrests at all, but like upholstery.
Also the procurement of individual workplaces is to be initiated this year due to your wishes. These measures will help us to increase the diversity of our diverse workplaces. We hope that this will improve the quality of your stay at the university library.
Time for something new!
If you have wishes for the library, then two wishes are guaranteed:
- I would like to work in peace and quiet.
- I want a lot of room for group work.
For this reason, since summer of 2016 we have opened four new group workrooms on the first floor of our library. The furniture is now to be improved by tables and chairs that you would like.
Also the furniture in the reading room will be renewed and expanded. Please help us to choose the new furniture and test them!
We invite you to take a seat, test, compare and choose the very best.
Please use the questionnaire to comment. Thank you!
New in Germany and then the new language? It is not always easy to find a room to practice by yourself. The library is offering two rooms [tu:speak] for practicing and learning languages.
These are intended primarily for participants in TUHH projects for refugees, “From Camp to Campus” (“integra”). Here you can actively build up your language skills with your headset on the PC. The rooms 1007 and 1008 on the upper floor are equipped with two PCs each. A valid library credit is required for the login.
Of course these rooms can also be used for other purposes, as long as nobody wants to learn German at the PC. But as soon as this changes, please make room.
