New to the library? – E-books and their use

The library offers more than just printed media. Many titles are also available in digital format, and some are only available digitally. You can access the digital editions via our library catalogue, identified by the ‘Volltext@TUHH’ button. The button takes you directly to the text or download options.

The content can be downloaded as a PDF (and in some cases as an EPUB) by chapter, by article or as a whole book, depending on the publisher’s specifications. For licensing reasons, this is only possible from the TUHH intranet. On campus, you can access the content via the TUHH Wi-Fi network (keyword: Eduroam).

As a student (or employee) of the TUHH, you can also access our digital media from home. However, you will need a VPN connection to the TUHH network. Alternatively, some publishers offer access via the single sign-on ‘Shibboleth’. You do not need a VPN connection for this, but instead log in to the provider’s website via the TUHH (institutional login) with your data from the data centre.

Please note: Our licences only allow reproduction (e.g. copies, downloads) for your own scientific use. If a PDF of the entire book is not available for download, it is usually only permitted to download individual chapters or pages. The licences also do not permit distribution to third parties or large-scale automated downloading.
