In the spirit of general contact avoidance in the current pandemic situation, the library currently offers on-site support in non-contact form: Mon -Fri 9am – 5pm.
If you need assistance in researching the databases, our expert advisors will be happy to help you via video call. You can also contact us by email or telephone during our opening hours.
The tub. is open in times of Corona, taking into account necessary measures. When entering the building, the library card must be shown and a medical mask must be worn. The collected data will be stored for 4 weeks for contact tracking.

You can get information on our supplementary house rules concerning Covid-19 here. During your entire stay in the library, the following also applies: Failure to comply with the rules will result in a ban from the library.
Workstations in the library can be reserved here. There are currently 89 tables available for TUHH members. In addition, we are offering four PC workstations for external patrons (members of other universities, city readers) as of Monday, 19.7.21. Two of these workstations can also be reserved by TU members.
A medical mask must be worn at the desk at all times. Only the reserved seat is to be taken. A transfer to other free seats is only permitted by means of a new reservation.

Loan and Return
During opening hours self-lending and return of media is possible. When entering the building, library cards must be shown and a medical mask must be worn. Requests for media from the closed stacks are possible. As soon as your requested media are available on the collection shelf, you will be notified by Email and have 7 days to borrow the media. You can also check the status of your order online in your library account. Closed Stacks requests made until 2 pm (Monday – Friday) will be provided on the same day. Borrowed media can currently be renewed up to eight times.
Registration / Library Card
From Monday, 7.6.2021, registration will again take place on site. Please fill out the registration form on our website. Then come to the ServicePoint of the library with the following documents:
- Identification documents (e.g. identity card/passport or residence permit)
- Proof of higher education (matriculation certificate/student ID)
Use of licenced E-Media
Members of the TU Hamburg can access licensed e-media by searching our catalogue tub.find via VPN access or Shibboleth.
External users with a TUHH library card can only use our digital journals and e-books at the PC workstations in the library. Due to current restrictions, there are currently four places available. You can reserve these here.
The VG Wort has agreed to temporary exception regarding the electronic forwarding of copies to users. Therefore, it is temporarily (until 31.07.2021) possible to send copies of articles electronically via e-mail with a download link.
Submission of dissertations
You have the following possibilities to hand in your dissertation: During service hours at the ServicePoint, by post, by internal mail or outside opening hours to the left of the library entrance by dropping it in the newspaper box (in an envelope). After service hours, you can use the white return box just to the left of the library entrance.
Please do not hand the dissertation to the security. We will forward the routing slip to the office of the doctoral committee after checking the given guideline.
