Digital media supply at the TUHH for 2026: e-books, journals, databases and more

As in previous years, the TUHH University Library will continue to provide you with the latest academic literature in 2026.

1. Licensed media packages

Decisive criteria for our license agreements are the subject-specific fit with the TUHH, the price expectations of the providers (incl. increase rates) and the factual usage by members of the TUHH. When licensing digital media, we pay particular attention to the contractually agreed terms of use: Where possible, we purchase campus licenses with unlimited access for authenticated TUHH members. We consistently reject contracts that provide for data protection concessions such as the tracking of user data. In addition, we ensure archiving and access rights after the termination of the respective contracts.

Journals

The following license agreements were continued or newly concluded for this year (see also the overview of our publishers and journals).

The costs of open access can be much higher than the previous subscription costs, or essential components of the portfolio may be missing. Therefore, we decided against the open access option of ACS and IEEE again.

Open Access Publishing Agreements without subscription

Under the following agreements, we offer TUHH members discounted conditions for scientific publishing.

In view of the predominantly critical mood at the TUHH, we refrained from participating in an extended cooperation with MDPI with greater benefits as we already did in the preceding year.

E-Book Packages

Our current e-book portfolio includes the following packages with the latest publications. In order to better align our e-book portfolio with factual demand, we are licensing publications from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) for the first time in a long while, starting with the years 2025 and 2026.

Due to the sharp decline in demand, we have decided against continuing our IET and SIAM packages.

Databases

Our licensed databases are listed in the Database Information System (DBIS).

2. Open Access Publishing Fund

In addition to the transformative agreements, we will continue to support TUHH researchers who publish in pure open access journals through our Publishing Fund in 2026.

3. Funding of infrastructure services and Diamond Open Access

The TUHH also supports projects and initiatives that advocate an approach to scientific communication that is oriented towards the common good and is not profit-oriented. We continue to support the following initiatives and infrastructures or are supporting them for the first time:

Acquisition proposals or feedback?

In addition to these large packages, we were almost always able to fulfill your book requests. Only very few did not fit our acquisition profile or were no longer available on the market. We would also have liked to make some more titles available digitally, but not all publishers offer us the option of a campus license.

We welcome feedback on the offers presented as well as further suggestions at tub-erwerbungsleitung@tuhh.de.

Also, if you have an acquisition proposal, we will be happy to help you as always.
