Our regular visitors have probably already noticed: In recent months, we have been sorting out books on the upper floor of the library and creating more workstation. And now the numbering of the workstation has changed.

What did we do this for?
Some books are no longer up to date or were only rarely borrowed. We have therefore stored them in our closed stacks. The remaining books were moved together so that some shelves were empty. By removing the vacant shelves, we were able to offer more workstations in the library to meet the increased demand, especially during exam periods.
It has been necessary to adjust the numbering of workstations as new ones have been added between the existing ones. There is also an area where we would like to set up more tables and chairs and where we are still looking for the best arrangement. We have come up with a new system so that we can better integrate new workstations in future, whose numbering makes more sense in the overall concept and are therefore easier to find. The result can be found in the reservation system.
What happens to the books?
Our subject librarians will look through the books and decide on their fate. Books that we keep remain in the stacks. The rest will be sold via our book flea market if possible. During this review, these books can still be ordered and borrowed via our library catalogue.
What happens next?
Some shelves on the ground floor will also be removed to make room for more workstations. However, we are still in the early stages of sorting out the books there. Recently, we also have had to dispose of an increasing number of broken chairs. We have now received a load of new ones, which we will be distributing over the next few days.
