3000 dissertations from the TU Hamburg

With the 3000th dissertation, our university is celebrating a special moment these days. Since its foundation in 1979, the TUHH has made significant contributions to various disciplines through the research of its academics. All dissertations are continuously recorded and made available in the catalog for worldwide visibility.

The 3000th dissertation is entitled “Mechanical behavior of supercrystalline nanocomposites” and can be searched via our catalog tub.find:

Support for online publication – change in publication practice

In the past, authors usually submitted their dissertations to us at the TUB as three publisher’s copies or as 40 self-published copies in book or photo print. Today, TUHH has adapted its doctoral regulations to the changes in the publication landscape. As a result more and more authors are publishing their work online on our document server TORE. This enables international visibility and free access to their research results. In the meantime, “Process development and digitalization of laser-directed energy deposition processing high-strength 7XXX series aluminum alloy” has also become the first cumulative dissertation format to be added to the collection. A further step that reflects the change in scientific communication.

TUHH Open Research (TORE) is the repository for open access publications and research data as well as the research information system of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). It now contains 1182 dissertations, 672 of them with full text.

Global visibility and comprehensive access to research results

The TUHH University Library provides doctoral candidates with comprehensive support for the publication of their dissertation. This includes registration in the joint library network (GBV) and cataloging in our tub.find catalog. Additionally, it offers the possibility for open access publication, including preliminary copyright checks.

The GBV, Germany’s largest cataloging database with over 51 million title records and 97 million ownership records, ensures that every dissertation can be found internationally. Theses published on TORE are also easily accessible worldwide via search engines. The TUHH thus makes a significant contribution to the international dissemination and transparency of scientific findings.
