Open Access Publishing with Elsevier

TU Hamburg participates in the German DEAL contract with Elsevier.

Term of Contract: September 1, 2023 until presumably December 31, 2028

Benefits for Researchers at Hamburg University of Technology

  • Publish Open Access with no author-facing article processing charge (APC) in more than 2,500 Elsevier journals (“Core Hybrid”), including the journals of the Cell Press and The Lancet brands (“CP/TL Hybrid”).
  • Receive a 20% discount on the list price of Article Processing Charges (APCs) for Elsevier Fully Gold journals (“Core Gold”) and a 15% discount on the list price of Fully Gold Cell Press (“Cell Press Gold”) and The Lancet journals (“The Lancet Gold”)

Which requirements must be fulfilled?

  • You are a researcher ot Hamburg University of Technology and are submitting the paper as the responsible Corresponding Author.
  • Your article is a peer-reviewed article in the following categories:
    Full Length Articles, Review Articles, Case Reports, Data in Brief, Microarticle, Original Software Publication, Protocol, Replication Study, Short Communication, Short Survey, Video Article
  • The date of acceptance (Hybrid Articles) or date of submission (Gold Articles) is within the contract period.

Open Access License

The Creative Commons license CC BY 4.0 is set by default for the contract. We also recommend this licence.

What do you have to do?

  • You must clearly state your institutional affiliation with Hamburg University of Technology when submitting:
    • Hamburg University of Technology must be your primary affiliation
    • Use your @tuhh.de email adress
    • If possible, submit from the TUHH network.
  • For fully Gold Open Accesss apply to the Publication Fund of University Library if eligble to cover the costs.

Open Access for journals without Open Access option

All Elsevier journals offer authors the opportunity to use Green Open Access. Green Open Access means that authors provide a public version of their article that would otherwise only be accessible to paying subscribers.
At TU Hamburg, the Accepted Manuscript can be published on TUHH Open Research (TORE), subject to a possible embargo.
