“Back to the Future” 3 – More desks and rooms

Dear patrons,

stairs in the library

we are opening more desks and rooms for you! As this is happening during the opening hours, we ask for your understanding for the preparations and clearing work during this week.

In our short survey during the last weeks, a large part of the respondents was in favour of keeping the option to reserve desks.
We are therefore taking this service on permanently.

However, not all seats and rooms will be available for reservation. The majority of you wanted at least 50% to be reservable.
We will implement this in the course of the week as follows:

Individual desks in the Reading Rooms

  • In the ground floor you can take a seat without reservation.
  • On the upper floor, the seats can be reserved by all users (and therefore have to be vacated for people who reserved).

Group Rooms

  • Larger study rooms are accessible without reservation.
  • Smaller study rooms can be used by TU members with a reservation (and therefore have to be vacated for people who reserved).

Reservable desks and rooms are marked as such. Only reserved places and rooms require a “check-in” with your library card at the entrance.
FFP2 masks are still mandatory for all stays in the university library. This includes the desks and all rooms, according to the current Containment Ordinance of the City of Hamburg “Eindämmungsverordung”.

We would like to thank all participants of our survey for their constructive comments!
