The DEAL-Konsortium supports the publishing of journal articles from the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) with the publisher SpringerNature in Open Access and covers the reading access to the journals.
This will be achieved by signing the contract on January 8th, 2020 through the DEAL-Konsortium with the Springer Nature publishing house. The contractual terms are similar to the Wiley contract. The contract is carried out by Max Planck Digital Libraries Services GmbH. The contractual terms apply from July 1st, 2020 for publication in pure open access journals (Gold Open Access) and from January 1st, 2020 for activation in a subscription journal (hybrid open access).
Contract duration: 1.1.2020-31.12.2023
Publications in hybrid journals (= subscription journals, approx. 1,900 titles): Contract begins on January 1, 2020. The reference date for participation is the time of the “online publication date” of the article. The Publish & Read Fee (PAR Fee) also includes access to the full range of subscription journals. Financing: initially on the previously paid subscription costs of the library.
Publications in Gold OA journals: Start only on August 1st, 2020. Publication in currently 600 SpringerNature open access journals with a 20% discount on the APC. There is no discount on the Scientific Reports (€ 1.624,95 + tax) and Nature Communications (€ 4.530,00 + tax)! Funding: Research projects (= institute funds) and, if applicable, publication funds of the library in accordance with the guidelines of the DFG, i.e. the library currently supports one article per year via the TUHH publication fund, primarily by young scientists. Please apply for funding before entering into a contract with the journal. The costs will be settled centrally by the TUHH.
